Specimens from the Amazon is a series of multimedia video installations depicting fragments of life in the heart of the Amazon. Each piece is composed of a small, ornately framed video monitor with a magnifying glass suspended from a golden chain. As one approaches the minuscule screen and peers through the magnifying glass, one is transformed into an anthropologist, investigating and becoming a part of the Amazon.

Specimens from the Amazon was conceived while filming The Holy Give Me, a documentary about plants in northwestern Brazil used for visioning, healing, and communing with the divine. In contrast to the wide scope of the documentary, these works are stories within their own microcosmic world.
